The Wildcats have made it onto the final list of 12 for junior stud Harrison Barnes of Iowa. He is also considering Duke, North Carolina, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Florida, USC, TCU, Stanford, Iowa State and UCLA.

I know that being listed among the final 12 for a recruit is not mind-blowing by any stretch of the imagination. However, when considering how much ground Coach Calipari has made up on this kid, it is amazing. He is still considered a slight lean to Duke, but keep in mind the bluegrass miracle man has just entered the picture.

In a recent True Blue Kentucky post, Marc Maggard stated, “Harrison Barnes is one of the most complete players in the 2010 class....probably the most complete. He really doesn't have any weaknesses. He does everything well above average and that complete package is why some think he's the best player in this class. He's not going to 'wow' you with his athleticism, but he's fairly athletic. Nothing he does really amazes you, but everything impresses you.”

Another aspect to consider when thinking about recruiting Harrison Barnes is his ability to standout not only on the court but also in the classroom. In a recent interview at Hoopfest, Barnes divulged that he possesses a 3.39 GPA and a strong interest in business administration finance. Harrison Barnes represents everything positive about college athletics.

Scout.com recently listed Harrison Barnes as their number one overall prospect for 2010. While clearly Kentucky has some ground to make up, Coach Calipari is already off to a great start. Kentucky fans need to just sit back and watch one of the best recruiters in America go to work.

The longer Barnes waits, the better it is for us. Sounds like we have a long way to go, but Coach can get in there good and get him if he has the time.
