The fallacy with a "low" SEC recruiting ranking relative to the #7 or #6 class is that the disparity between the two is not large. It's a race decided by noses, not horselengths, and that's why I see the "last" ranking as insignificant.
But I'm not going to sit back and say a class of 2 star players has every bit of a chance of success as a class of 4 star players in football because of, look, Richie Farmer. I know you're not suggesting the same thing and are just using some hyperbole, but UK would benefit from improved recruiting. This class has been an improvement, IMO, despite the low ranking because I honestly don't see a big gap between #12 and #7.
Rankings in Basketball are FAR MORE MEANINGFUL than rankings in football....and they are still pretty much useless.
Once you get past the 10 studs in each class, it comes down to how hard a kid will work and if he chooses the right system/coach to play in.
I put nearly no stock in football "rankings' because the methods for ranking football players are ridiculous.

anyways, just wanted to clarify what i was saying: I was metaphorically giving Teague a pat on the back. I never complained about him before, the "weak link" stuff never came from my mouth. I remember Knight. Heck, in Maui, he had how many TO's? and he turned out just fine. So will (has already) Teague. I was just posting to say he has done exactly that, and good job to him.
welcome back, btw marc
Which is why I didn't quote your remarks... was speaking to the larger audience.
Because of the way these conversations normally happen, it's hard to get an answer to "who else" type questions. It's normally talking about a speicific player and getting insight...not asking about "grand scheme" questions.
Hey guys... can you guys let me know what sort of information you are wanting. Give me a list of questions you hope to get answers to and i'll get to work on it. I'm going to be around some very smart people over the weekend and there will be hours of conversations... I'll try to lean them to the topics you guys want info about....
It's ALWAYS this way with freshmen point guards. I've told you guys this from the beginning of the year. Every season, people start out bitching about the PG and end up loving him..... You will NEVER know what you got till February with these UK teams.... expecting more is just fool's gold.
The apology is above and beyond what would be a "fake" apology. I think it's legitimate and sincere. White isn't some thug... he just got frustrated. I understand the other side of the argument here, I just think it's sincere.
He will go to the NBA one day. It's the biggest stage and he was a perceived failure last time (despite his success). The lifestyle is MUCH easier on a head coach as well.
