I actually though all he took was Andro. Shows how naive I am. I was a kid when Big Mac broke that record and afterwards I wanted to believe that he was clean. NOPE!!!

No surprise. I think my big question is does steroids actually help a player hit better?
Does it some how improve eye hand coordination?
I was always told "bat speed" is what will really determine how far a ball is hit, not actual power. So it would seem to me that "bulking up" via steroids would actually maybe hinder your hitting ability because you aren't as limber and have more to move around. (McGwire was hitting HR's when he was skinny and guys like Griffey didn't need to bulk up to hit em.)
I can understand the steroids helping you heal faster, stay stronger longer to lengthen your playing career, or even maybe running faster or jumping higher. I just was never convinced they would help you hit better.
Maybe someone with more steroid information could explain how that works a little better?

^The writing is on the wall. I think more than anything it helps a hitters confidence. Guys feel bigger and stronger therefore they hit the ball harder and further. If a guy thinks its an advantage even if its really not an advantage then it is an advantage(if that makes any sense). Guys like McGwire were always going to be great hitters but they may not always be healthy. And they may sometimes lack confidence at times. Steroids solves both. It just gives guys that extra edge mentally and physically that they might need to take things to another level.
What pisses me off more than anything is a guy who lies as he's coming clean. Why not just tell the total truth?
Bottom line if it didn't help guys wouldn't be doing them.
