Aaron Harrison - 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Wed, Oct 6, 2010 10:31pm

Legend Points: 382
6'5" 205lb Shooting Guard - Fort Bend, Texas
HS: Travis
AAU: Defenders Select

Rivals: ***** (10)
Scout: N/A
ESPN: 97 (8)

Strengths:
Aaron is the twin brother of Andrew and the two don't just share similarities in regards to looks. Their games are very closely related due to a high skill level and IQ for the game. Aaron does a great job of sprinting the floor in transition for spot up 3's. On dribble penetration he finds the open area of the floor for penetrate and kicks, and can really knock them down when his feet are set. In the half court set Aaron knows how to use screens and good footwork allows him to get shot ready once he clears the screen. Defensively, Harrison has the size and length to lock down on the perimeter. He can give smaller guys a little space while using his length to contest shots or use his physicality to push guys off screens to the perimeter. A decent rebounder at his position, Aaron has a good knack for knowing where the ball is going off the rim and getting there.

Weaknesses:
Harrison already has a big strong body but must continue to work and maintain it. He also could be a better rebounder at times and if he wants to play the point he will need to hone those skills ballhandling, passing and setting the offense in which he is very capable. Overall this young player has very few weakneess but must stay hungry to continue to get better.

Bottom Line:
Harrison is a terrific shooting guard that can score to the arc and with his smooth middle game. He also uses his ability to shoot the ball to help him get shots for teammates when he attacks multiple defenders. Harrison has great size, skill and feel for the game. He can get on a role and knock down jumpers with great acurreancy. Harrison can also play the point in a pinch but he seems to think and operate more like a shooting guard. Big time size and talented perimeter player.

I spent a good part of last Saturday with Mr. Harrison and his two sons. I can tell you all with 100% certainty that these are exactly the type of kids and parents that UK needs to be bringing into their program. Much like Buster and Twyanna Patterson, when speaking to Mr. Harrison, you just know that his sons have been raised with the right morals and attitude.

In fact, he told me "The boys FINALLY heard a coach tell them what they've always wanted to hear"..... (it wasn't how great they are and how much PT they will get).... "Coach Cal told them that if they come to UK, they will have to work hard to improve and get playing time..... he told them it would not be easy and they would be pushed to their limits..... and that's what they have been waiting to hear".

It was clearly evident from spending time with Mr. Harrison and Andrew and Aaron that they were "blown away" (their words) with their visit to UK. With zero prodding from myself, Mr. Harrison went on and on about the campus, staff, tradition and future of the UK program. At this point, it seemed that while early in the process, UK is already a formidable presence in both boys' recruitment.

Also, this is clearly a "package deal". The boys are in the 2013 class and as twins, are closer than you can imagine. Mr. Harrison said they have NEVER had a fight.... for me, that's an amazing factoid. He also said that he has a 4 bedroom house, but the boys recently moved back into the same bedroom together. They didn't like having the walls separating them. That's how close they are.

And their play on the court shows it. While they were on different teams for this event, when you see them play together, it's something special. Both are a legit 6'4 at 15 years old.

Andrew is a big strong and FAST PG who has a knack for getting into the lane and finishing or finding the open man. His vision is really really special. He delivers pinpoint passes in a manner normally reserved for much older, more mature, players. His speed and lateral quickness is surprising for his size. He can easily guard smaller PG's and he rebounds extremely well for a PG. Both boys have a super high IQ. If Andrew DOES have a weakness, it would be his jumpshot. He's not knows for his shooting, although he's better than Rondo or Wall were at the same age. It's also something he's focusing on over the next TWO YEARS before he heads to college, so he should be fine. His form is good... he just needs to take more in practice.

Aaron is a combo guard best suited for the 2 when Andrew is on the court with him. He shoots the ball VERY well when his feet are set and has the ability to create his own shot and get the ball to others if he can't finish. The boys are very similar with the major difference being that Aaron is a better shooter while Andrew is a better ball handler/passer. This lends itself to a great duo as they both have some areas where they share strengths, but they make up for each other's weaknesses as well. The two of them on the court are about as good of a 1-2 punch as you'll find in the 2013 class.....or any class. Both are considered top 10 players in the class.

Are they good enough? Yes.

Will Cal offer them and allow them to commit.... very unlikely.

Cal just doesn't offer and accept many young kids.... too many things could happen..... they could blow out a knee or steal a car...... Plus, the next John Wall might get discovered in that same class.....

Just not likely that Cal pushes to get a commit. Unless the kids beg to get a spot, which is not likely, It's not likely they end up commiting till they are Jr.s at the earliest. Cal likely has never seen them play high level AAU ball.... he rarely watches kids that young.

Shabazz Muhammad (Las Vegas/ Bishop Gorman)
2012, SF, 6-4, 190 pounds
Muhammad is the ultimate energy-giver who elevates his team's performance. He has an uncanny ability to finish plays thanks to his power and elite athleticism. He has lots of range on his jumper and he can drive past his opponent with a quick first step, especially going left. Muhammad's dominant play has been very consistent because his effort is fantastic and he's making a case for the top spot in the class.

Aaron Harrison (Houston/ Travis)
2013, SG/PG, 6-5, 205 pounds
Harrison (like his twin brother) can play either of the three perimeter positions. That versatility is a major strength and he can score and distribute. He is probably best on the wing but he can definitely be a combo guard. He is a streaky shooter with range to 22 feet and an excellent slasher thanks to his skill set and strong body.

Andrew Harrison (Houston/ Travis)
2013, PG/SG, 6-5, 210 pounds
Maybe slightly better than his brother, Andrew is best with the ball in his hands. He can create for himself and his teammates. We are not sure what position he will play at the next level but he will be on the floor at one of the three perimeter spots. He is best when moving forward and playing in attack mode because he can go right or left and plays with very little wasted motion. Both he and his brother could improve on their decision making, but most of the mistakes they make are made from being aggressive.

Kasey Hill (Eustis, Fla./ Montverde Academy)
2013, PG, 6-0, 175 pounds
He is a dynamic point guard who can score and create. Hill led his team to the U17 championship of the adidas Invitational as an underclassmen. He is quick, athletic and is hard to keep out of the lane. He has solid strength and a pretty good basketball IQ but he still needs to improve his jumper. Hill is definitely one of the better point guard prospects in the 2013 class.
