So this blog is for those of you who are still thinking UK basketball at 3am EARLY on Sunday morning. This is a free blog and you don't even have to be registered (which is free to do) to read this.
So.... The past few days have been crazy. I've done nothing but take phone calls and text messages and respond to emails. I've never seen more heat surrounding UK basketball.... it's crazy. We've spent countless hours working with our site developer, Brian Devendorf (yeah, it's a goofy name, but the dude is out of this world as a website guru), and Jon C Larson at Richweb (the people who host this website) to make sure our site stays fast and does not crash. Our traffic has been ridiculous, yet we have experienced only temporary slow downs. That is due to the two guys I've just mentioned working their butts off to make TBK rock. You can also thank the TBK subscribers who contribute financial resources that we have used to boost our site performance!
So, with that out of the way, let me tell you what I am hearing.....
There are people VERY involved with UK basketball who are pretty much bragging about the next UK coach. I have zero idea who the coach is......but I'm 100% positive that the "powers that be" think they have knocked it out of the park. There are people who are important to the team who are being told that they will "LOVE" the new coach.
I don't have anything more to share. I wish I did. I wish I could tell you the name of the person who seems to have those "in the know" so excited. I can't imagine that any "plan C or D" coach would make those involved in the process so giddy. At this point, I'd have to expect that UK got someone who they think is fabulous.
Yeah, it makes me crazy to want to know also. Sometimes you guys forget that I'm not much more than a guy from Glasgow, Ky who grew up watching Kenny Walker, Kyle Macy & Roger Hardin. I still pull up my socks when I practice free throws at the YMCA here in Nashville. Working in basketball is a dream come true for me.....and yeah, you do lose a bit of the "fandom" when you work with many programs across the country......but when your old flame heats up, it all comes rushing back.......
So, let me say this. I expect to hear something tomorrow. I won't say much more than that. I can't guarantee anything.....but I really don't think this will go much longer. I think UK already knows who it's next coach will be. If that is the case, and i BELIEVE that it is (I do not know for certain), then I do not think they will go much longer without making some announcement. Personally, I feel (not certain at all) that you will all know something before sunset hits on Tuesday. It would not surprise me to hear something on Monday. Having said that, it could end up being a month before it's over.....lol.
I think at some point tomorrow that I will have a much clearer picture of who UK's next coach will be. I could be 100% wrong in thinking that..... if anything has been proven over the past few days, it has shown that nobody knows anything for certain. I do not think that I will be "positive" tomorrow, but I DO expect that I will be more than "I have no idea" by tomorrow eve at the latest.
I've been really proud of the True Blue Kentucky posters over the past few weeks. I honestly never really knew what type of site we would have in the end. This entire process has been a "work in progress" as we go from one point to another. When we started at UKuncensored about 3 years ago, I had no dream of changing the way UK fans think about message boards. As we have evolved, I have realize that we CAN make a better UK internet. We can attract the type of fan who sees the good in Kentucky basketball.
I've had to break a few eggs along the way....and I've broken my own egg a few times.... but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. With every week that passes at TBK, I see progress and change. I see fans start to think a bit differently about their own role as a fan. I've seriously changed my own vision of what a great fan site can be. All of you who post here have helped me come to this realization. We can do better. We can be the type of fan that supports the program with passion, yet feels a responsibility to the players, staff and administration.
I've been told in the past that "you can't change it", but I do not believe that. We are still in the beginning stages of making something totally unique at True Blue Kentucky....but I am certain that we are heading in the right direction. You guys who are reading this deserve a TON of credit for making this site what it is.
Without going into too much detail....let me just tell you this..... There are people who are important to UK basketball who understand that this site is different. There are people who NOW understand that UK fans on the internet can be forces of good for UK athletics. There are people who will tell others that TBK is the place you should go if you want to get an accurate portrayal of the passion for UK basketball.
I cannot possibly explain how proud that makes me. You guys are the reason for that. You may not know it, but you have made a difference.

In summary, I've seen more than my fair share of ignorant UK fans over the past few years, and TBK is easily the classiest of the sites when it comes to keeping away the riff-raff. Two thumbs up for the company the site keeps.

my mind is running rampant as to who our next coach will be. it has to be someone that nobody has thought could be remotely possible. my WILDEST guess would be the likes of pat riley (i know it's ridiculous), phil jackson (LMAO), rupp rising from the ashes (i'm delirious), michael jordan (what an unreasonable idiot i am)............u got my imagination going "out of the ballpark" now.
thanks for all the great work you guys do. i "backed" my thanks up with 9.95 per month

Thanks to Brian and Jon for all the hard work in keeping the site up, running, and responsive. I've been really impressed.

2) This post, and all of its Devendorf-name bashing, is pathetic. You should be ashamed of yourself. I demand an immediate retraction and an apology. Sincerely, Jedidiah Devendorf III, President of the Clan Devendorf Reunion Committee.

There is nothing worse than going to another site where people continue to bitch and moan with EACH OTHER about the very same thing that brings them together.
In case you were wondering, I love it here and am here for the long haul
