As previously reported by TBK's Marc Maggard as well as long speculated by multiple Lexington media outlets, the Lexington Herald Leader recently obtained information through an open record's request confirming former Big Blue Sports Network color commentator Martin Newton has been hired as UK's Director of Basketball Operations.

Newton, who has worked for both Nike and Converse in the past, signed a two-year contract with the University with a base salary of $165,000 as well as bonuses for the team's academic achievements as well as potential on-the-court achievements.

Newton is also the son of former UK Athletic Director C.M. Newton.
