It's not hard to be accurate!

E-mail Print PDF

altMost of the day, I've been dealing with emails, phone calls and PM's from people all over (media included) asking me to make comments about remarks attributed to me that I never made.

The majority of this comes from Kentucky Sports Radio, which ironically, is not on the radio, but is a blog.  Matt Jones incorrectly reported that I had made the comment that Liggins is no longer being coached by Gillispie, which I have never said in any way.

Additionally, there are those around the internet who are attributing the "Liggins is going to transfer" rumor to me.

Again, I have never said that and I actually said the exact opposite today on the free hoops forum.

If you see these types of comments being made, please do me a favor and correct those who make them.  It will save me a lot of time and trouble if people would just be accurate.

Some of the mistakes are honest ones, but the majority of them are done with a malicious intent.  A few people "put the word out" that I made a comment and then everyone goes spreading it around as if it's accurate.

Please note that most of the people who start these kinds of inaccurate posts do so on purpose, so correcting them is important.

I want to turn it off.  I can't.  My vulgarity, rash temper tantrums, and obscene behavior are only comparable to an addict coming off a high and looking for his next fix. Is this what life has come to for me?  I look into the mirror, after a win nonetheless, and I see a fragile man.  A broken man, who hasn't seen a high since beating Lamar earlier this week, with the last intense high being against West Virginia last Saturday.

Can a Wildcat Survive a Hurricane?

Slappy McSlapperton himself. My my my, what a week in Las Vegas can do for the soul! The Kentucky Wildcats were crowned kings of Sin City last weekend, grinding out two tough victories over the Kansas State Feauxcats and the West Virginia Hugginses, once again proving that everything awesome happens in Vegas. And like my friend told me before we visited Vegas: “What happens in Vegas…gets bragged about for years”. There was some ordeal with a kid not wanting to play or something, but I forgot about that already. We won, bitches! It’s a celebration!

Wednesday night the ‘Cats took on Lamar. I was planning on making a Lamar Burton joke here, only to find out that the guy’s name is actually Levar Burton…or is it Toby? A little Roots humor there for the kids.

Anyway, UK assisted their way to a 42 point victory, fueled by 31 points from Patrick Patterson and an impressive night at lead guard from DeAndre’ Liggins, who went 6-6 from the floor with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists to only 2 turnovers. Kentucky is on a 4-game winning streak since opening the season 0-2, but their toughest test comes this Saturday in Lexington when Kentucky hosts the 22nd ranked Miami U’s.

UK vs. WVU Game Preview

E-mail Print PDF
alt

With a win over Kansas St, UK ruined the chance for Bob Huggins to face his former team in the finals of the Vegas Invitational tournament tonight.

West Virginia will be a big challenge tonight for the Wildcats due to it's balanced offensive attack and ability to rebound the basketball on both ends of the court.

The Mountaineers have 9 players who average double digit minutes vs. only 8 for UK with one of those being Liggins, who had some issues with playing time vs. Kansas St. which may affect how much court time he sees tonight.

TurkeyHey there, kids! So I discovered something about myself this week: I'm lazy! So I'm outsourcing this basketball preview.

The following Kansas State breakdown was written by TBK member aaronedge in the hoops forum. I thank him for such a long and thoughtful post, which helps me spend more time playing video games, eating turkey, and being embarrassed of my family. So happy Thanksgiving everyone, and enjoy the breakdown, which was originally posted in this thread:

II saw Kansas State play last week against Emporia State, a school I had never heard of before.

They apply full court pressure on the ball handler but not on the other players, so that should not present a problem for Michael or DeAndre. Once their opponent gets into the half court, they extend their defense all the way out to half court and really play the passing lanes. They remind me of us a lot in that regard, except they defend farther out. Emporia State was able to use backdoor cuts extremely effectively against K-State for the entirety of the game.

Matt Pilgrim Eligibility Blog

alt

I Just posted a very comprehensive audio blog about Matt Pilgrim's appeal for a hardship waiver from the NCAA.

If you are the type of person who likes to know the backstory and how things sometimes work together to sometimes form a "perfect storm", then you won't want to miss this explaination.

I am not aware of any ruling as of 2:30pm on 26 Nov, and the press conference in 45 minutes is most likely not about this topic.

The audio blog is located on the top right of this front page.

Losing Hansbrough Is Bad For UK

E-mail Print PDF

altYou'd have to be living on Mars to not know that UNC POY forward Tyler Hansbrough won't be able to play tonight in their home game against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Most Wildcat fans probably look at this as an blessing, however, I think it's a blessing in disguise for the Tarheels.

As the VMI game proved, much of basketball comes down to individual matchups.  Similar to a boxing match, sometimes "styles make fights" and this is another one of those situations.  Hasbrough is a "Mike Tyson" while his replacement tandem of Freshmen, Tyler Zeller & Ed Davis, are more along the lines of "Muhammed Ali" style players.

The UK logo is larger for a reason.

Welcome to the new season, 'Cats fans! BBallSophist here, giving you exclusive insight into the highly anticipated titanic battle between the Virginia Military Institute Keydets and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Steel yourself for a deluge of mind-melting basketball wisdom!

The first thing I’d like to make perfectly clear is the following:

I’ve never been to the VMI and I have no idea where it is located. I didn’t even know that people in the military play basketball until this week, and I’ve never seen VMI’s basketball team play a single game. Everything I know about VMI I have learned this week. Keep this in mind before you become stunned by the avalanche of information I’m about to bestow on you in this preview...

...‘cause I likes to keep it real like that!

On to the preview!

E-mail Print PDF

Jai Lucas is a little dudeFlorida head coach Billy Donovan confirmed today that sophomore point guard and high school McDonald All-American, Jai Lucas, will be transferring at the end of this sememster.

Lucas started every game for UF last year and averaged 8.5 points per game and shot over 43% from the (old) three point line in limited (85) attempts.

While exact details of the reason for the transfer have not been released, there are some details that could be clues to the thought process.

Daniel Orton Injury Can Be Seen As A Positive

E-mail Print PDF

Daniel Orton has suffered a season ending cartilage tear in his knee this past weekend, but there is a silver lining in every cloud.

"Daniel tore some cartilage in his knee, the same knee where a loose ACL had been giving him problems for the past year," said Larry Orton.  "The surgery will repair the cartilage as well as tighten up the ACL which has been effecting his play."
